Cruising Site.
There are two lay-bys close to the Tarn, roughly midway between Rowrah and Cockermouth on the A5086. The lay-by that runs by the Tarn is very open, and not recommended, but the lay-by the Rowrah side is very hidden. There is plenty of cover by going through the wall, into the wooded area.

There are occasional non cruising people in this lay-by, and sometimes you have to suffer drive through gawpers, but generally pretty quiet.

The photograph shows the exit of the lay-by next to the Tarn, (in the foreground), immediately followed by the entrance to the more hidden and active layby. Shown driving from Cockermouth to Rowrah.
