Takoma Pride takes place on Sunday the 26th June 2022.

This year’s theme is Just Say Gay. On Laurel Ave, outside the Takoma Park Farmers Market, visitors are encouraged to take pics at the Just Say Gay rainbow flower wall and post with the tag #JUSTSAYGAYTKPK! Let’s send Florida a message of acceptance. Special thanks to Park Florist.

Events below take place on the Laurel Avenue Streetery (between Carroll Avenue and Eastern Ave. Google: 6929 Laure Ave):

Tables
Main Street Takoma will pass out free tattoos and pins and host a Pride bracelet making station.
Q Youth will pass out stickers and pronoun buttons.
Historic Takoma will share Takoma Park’s role in LGBTQ history.
Councilmember Evan Glass’ office will share LGBTQ+ resources with staff available to meet with residents.
Rainbow Clubs of TPES and PBES: to connect the LGBTQ community and provide resources to teachers and families.
Busboys and Poets Books will share info on its new Queer Book Club and YA/Teen Book Club
G. Qulture A queer and black art shop.

Chalk the Block
Chalk available to write messages of Pride in the closed street.

Schedule:
10:00am – 1:00 pm Face painting for kids of all ages by Jolie Faces
10:00am -11:00 am Daniel the Juggler
10:00 am Kids Pride Parade. Community organized, Kids Pride Parade, plans to march down Carroll Avenue. The parade starts at 10:00am at 201 Ethan Allen Avenue and ends on Laurel Avenue.
11:00 am Drag Queen Story time The event is free and designed to inspire a love of reading, while teaching lessons of self-acceptance, diversity and respect. For children of all ages.
12:00 pm, Sorry! CANCELLED The Tap Ensemble from Knock on Wood Studio taps for Pride on the Laurel Ave Streetery.
