Margate Pride 2017
Margate Pride is DIY and accessible to all: Queer, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, Everything, Nothing, Straight Allies, All and Everything In-Between! Margate Pride celebrates diversity of love, alternative culture, community activism and local and international talent.
Pride week offers an eclectic program of workshops, performances, exhibitions and events hosted in a number of participating venues across the town, such as Resort, Margate Arts Club, and The Tom Thumb Theatre. The weekend comprises of screenings, performances, exhibitions, a march, festivities and parties throughout Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th August 2017.
The parade starts at 2pm, Saturday 12th August 2017 at The Lido. Join us by the seaside, throw a look, and show the world you love it! There will be a family friendly afternoon rally with speeches from National LGBT figures at the recently refurbished Dreamland. All this is served with live music and numerous parties at The Britannia, The Piazza, Sundowners and many more LGBT friendly spaces - follow the rainbows - or alternatively, see the programme for a full list of participating venues.
As well as all the fabulous local talent, there are some very cool national and international names to drop over the weekend. ‘Sink The Pink’ will be presenting local and international DJ’s, drag-artists and performers. Sister Bliss (Faithless), Lorraine Bowen, Hannah Holland, Goldirocks, Glynfamous and Shesus to name but a few.
Sunday is simply all about the seaside. Traders along the harbour arm will be hosting an afternoon barbeque social, with alfresco food, music and entertainment; bring a swimsuit and some factor 50, we want beautiful bodies with no peeling!
Believe the hype. Margate is in the midst of a cultural renaissance, come share the love.
