Margate Pride Manifesto : Margate Pride is a culture rich contemporary pride. A celebration of all of Thanet’s queerness and LGBTQI life. Gay, straight, everything, nothing and all the in-between – if you don’t feel represented, get in touch.
Margate Pride CIC is a not for profit community interest company led by LGBTQIA artists to celebrate the diversity of love in Margate.
Margate Pride is not just a parade for the day. It’s an expression of the whole community. We really want you to make it your own.
Whilst there will be no parade, there is plenty taking place for this year's Margate Pride. Margate Pride Art Trail will be located across Margate and Cliftonville, taking in multiple venues and displaying lots of artists. This will feature the 'Red Flags' open call exhibition at The Margate School, Elissa Cray's Pride Portraits at Resort, Julian Smith and Thelma Spiers at Margate Arts Club and much much more. The Oval Bandstand on Saturday 14th August will see performances, speakers and the inaugural Mx Margate - A Very Queer Beauty Pageant. Workshops will precede this for contestants. Keep an eye on social for workshop dates and how to apply. Tea-time socials for members of Margate's older community make their return. A new sporty section is making its first appearance with Drag Kick Ball + Sports Day - Venue and dates TBA. Later this year is the Turner Contemporary Open Call exhibition, for which Margate Pride is one of the collectives curating a selection. We can't wait to show you our gallery! Keep an eye on socials for more information as it gets announced and how to get involved. Margate Pride is volunteer-led and is a community effort! We need your help to spread the love! Show some love to @stupendous_tremendous for our incredible poster art - They will be exhibiting work during Pride week, so keep your eyes peeled.
