Info
Birmingham Pride will take place over the weekend 26/28 May 2023.
Birmingham Pride held its first event back in 1997. Over the following 25 years Birmingham Pride has become one of the most important LGBTQ+ festivals in the UK attracting in excess of 40,000 people over the course of the weekend to the festival sites in the heart of the LGBTQ+ village and over 75,000 participating in or watching our annual pride parade through the streets of Birmingham.
Big Community Event
Friday 26th May
This year we will be holding the event in the heart of the Pride Village on Hurst Street between 18:00hrs and 22:00 hrs.
The event is FREE, but you will require a FREE ticket, which you can claim from the BUY TICKETS section on their website.
We are delighted to feature some amazing local LGBTQ+ talent, choirs, keynote speakers, drag performers and our candlelit vigil. The area provides limited seating and a quieter vibe and provides the perfect start to the Birmingham Pride weekend.
Parade
Centernary Square, Birmingham City Centre, Saturday 27th May. The Birmingham Pride parade is FREE to view, but you do need to register to take part. The event launches in Centenary Square in the heart of the city centre and the parade starts making its way through the city from 12 noon, ending in the LGBTQ+ Village where people then make their way to the main festival activities.
Street party
The area around Hurst Street, just down from the Birmingham Hippodrome theatre, Bromsgrove Street and the surrounding streets will be the home of the Birmingham Pride ‘Street Party’ providing us with the opportunity to introduce more affordable tickets, subsidised by Birmingham Pride, whilst still maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.
The ‘Street Party’ includes your favourite LGBTQ+ bars and clubs, including Equator, The Fox, The Loft, Missing Bar, Nightingale Club and Sidewalk Bar, as well as easy access to our LGBTQ+ venues outside the Pride Map, including The Fountain, Glamorous, Eden and Chic. Each bar or club will host individual Pride events, including cabaret, live entertainment and more, over the festival weekend. As always, the ‘Street party’ will include a selection of street food vendors including vegetarian and vegan options and a mix of community and commercial market stalls.
Festival
Smithfield is the new location, situated just metres from Birmingham’s LGBTQ+ village that will play host to our BIGGEST ever Main Stage, the legendary Cabaret Stage, our ground-breaking Dance Arena and the additional attractions of the popular Fun Fair, street food stalls, community stalls, seating areas and MORE! Previously the home of the famous Birmingham Wholesale Markets, the site is set across 12 acres within which Birmingham Pride will accommodate 20,000 attendees safely and securely, ensuring an enjoyable experience for us all.
Birmingham Pride also features the Street Festival set in the streets of the LGBTQ+ village on and around Hurst Street. Tickets for both the Main Festival on Smithfield and the Street Festival are available via their website.
