“This isn’t a club to disappear into with your mates. There’s no separation between groups. The dance floor pulses as one. People who’ve never been to Bootylicious immediately feel like they have arrived home.” Amel Mukhtar, Vogue Magazine (July 2023). One of the capital’s pioneering LGBTQIA clubs for diversity Bootylicious opens a new chapter as they take over the whole of Kings Cross’ Scala for their one-off Easter Bootylicious event on Saturday April 19th. For this unique event Bootylicious introduce some of the scene’s fast rising DJs, artists, performers and hosts to expand the styles and genres of music that their crowd love to rave to. Spanning 3 floors of electrifying music, with Special Guest DJs Kyma and NG making their debuts in the House Room, this is set to be one of the Easter weekend’s biggest events for LBTQIA clubbers and friends.
Part of London’s LGBTQIA culture for the past two decades Bootylicious has been acknowledged for its contribution most recently featuring in the Rawkus Exhibition at Somerset House, including hosting Skate Lates there with Rock Angel, as well as events such as Bootylicious x Barbican with the Barbican and the Love & Legacy Party. The clubs have hosted live shows from Boy George, Gwen McCrae (RIP), Shola Ama, Terri Walker and Alicaì Harley.
The top floor offers a unique and explosive fusion of UK funky house, GQOM, Afro electronic and House, introducing DJs NG and Kyma to the Bootylicious party people. Aged 22 Kyma has already created a stir with sets at the Secret Garden Party, 51st Festival, and Glastonbury as well as recently providing the soundtrack for the Zaneli Muholi exhibition event at Tate Modern. NG has been a resident DJ on the London scene with residencies at The Factory After Party (Fire, Vauxhall), Home LDN, Movimento at Club Aquarium and at the Garage Nation Festival after breaking out with his club anthem “Tell Me” featuring Katy B and MC Versatile from Crazy Cousins.
Part of the original UK funky scene, NG, hosted a pioneering show on Rinse FM, then the House show on BBC 1Xtra as well as guest mixes on BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra. Describing his sound as ‘urbance’ his mix of urban dance flavours has seen remix artists such as Usher, Will I Am and Lilly Allen.
On the main floor the Bootylicious Resident DJs Kartel Brown (promoter of Vogue Rites, who host a Ball at The Roundhouse on April 9th, 2025); Biggy C – the daddy of Dancehall on the LGBTQ scene, Randall Watson and DJ Tyom keep the mothership flying high with a fresh twist of sounds introducing new DJs into the mix and expect anything from Amapiano, Hip hop, Rnb and Dancehall in the mix. Topped off by MC Tyron hosting on the mic.
Rounding out the line-up it’s strictly oldschool in the Glassbar with Jeffrey Hinton and guests, and with Birthday and VIP packages available, there will also be special events in the foyer, to be announced shortly. Get ready for an unforgettable night of celebrations at the iconic Scala venue, where the dance floor is open to all queer people of colour and allies, and the entire queer family! Step into a vibrant space filled with joy, acceptance, and unity, to dance like nobody’s watching, and celebrate the beautiful diversity of their community.
“At legendary London club night Bootylicious – where rhythm, freedom and romance collide – Vogue gets carried away in the sharpest, all-eyes-on-you looks.” Vogue Magazine
