Victoria Pride 2021 takes place from June 27th to July 4th 2021
Victoria Pride supports a vibrant and empowered LGBTQ2+ community in Greater Victoria through visibility, collaboration, ongoing conversation and celebration.
Victoria Pride Society is privileged to serve our communities on the traditional lands of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
As we prepare for Victoria Pride 2021, we are looking to build on what we’ve learned over the last year. With safety being our top priority, we can’t say at this point whether this coming year’s events will be in-person, online or a combination of the two. But we can be sure that June 27 to July 4, 2021 will be a time when we can all come together and show our Pride.
Youth Pride Kick-Off Party
June 28 - Online
Kick off the Victoria Pride Week Festival with a night of inspirational speakers and dazzling performances in an online event hosted by the Victoria Pride Society Youth Leadership Council. While geared for those 15 to 24 years old, the party is open to all ages and will also include opportunities to play online interactive games like Jackbox, Werewolves, and Among Us.
Queer Activism Night
June 30 - Online
Hosted by the Victoria Pride Youth Leadership Council, Queer Activism Night will bring together local speakers, activists, and artists to present on and discuss the history of queer activism and current community issues.
Virtual Big Gay Dog Walk
July 2 - Online
Our annual Big Gay Dog Walk is going virtual again! This year, celebrating in our own homes means the Big Gay Dog Walk is accepting submissions from ALL our furry, fluffy, feathered and other feisty friends! We want to see your pet showing their PRIDE by either showing off their coolest trick or by dressing to impress! Prizes from Boom & Batten will be awarded to the top winners in each category. More details on how to participate will be released soon.
Pride in the Word
July 3 - Online
Pride in the Word is one of Canada’s largest Pride festival literary events. Each year it showcases some of the proudest and most talented writers from Victoria and across the country, and is always a great time. The challenges brought on by the pandemic in 2020 dashed our hopes for presenting one of our most beloved annual Pride events last year, as having to move to virtual platforms in a short timeframe created significant hurdles. However, this year’s PITW will more than make up for it. Check this page for more details as we get closer to the date.
#YYJ Pride Parade
July 4 -Online
This year, you won’t just watch a parade: you ARE the parade! Victoria Pride is calling on everyone under the rainbow to “Pride Up” their homes, offices, stores fronts, cars, bikes or anything else that shows their PRIDE during the month of June!
Show off your display of pride by using the hashtag #yyjpride on Instagram or Facebook, or send a photo to parade@victoriapridesociety.org. We’ll be capturing select displays on video between June 14 and 21 for our parade montage of rainbow delights premiering on Sunday, July 4th.
This is a chance to come together as we celebrate apart. Let’s join together to brighten up our local communities!
The Victoria Pride Festival Extravaganza Show
July 4 - Online
The pinnacle event of the Victoria Pride Week Festival! The Victoria Pride Festival Extravaganza Show features a variety of spectacular performances from local LGBTQIA2S+ artists from drag to dance to music and more! This is a show you do not want to miss!
The digital format may look a bit different from years past, but ensures that the Queer Communities can enjoy all the entertainment they have come to expect, but without the line-ups!
Be sure to tune in and enjoy this event that celebrates you, your friends, your families and your communities hosted by the incredible, the one and only, the amazing, J McLaughlin.
Post-Pride Festival
VPS/ECAH Queer Art Show
July 14 – 30
Even though the Pride Week Festival has officially wrapped, celebrating Pride continues.
As part of this year’s Pride celebration, VPS and the Esquimalt Community Arts Hub will be centring ideas, artwork and stories from Indigenous, Black and People of Colour artists for a two-week exhibit.
We are currently working with our Community Curators to design an inclusive exhibit theme that welcomes, amplifies and responds to the work of artists at the intersections of gender, sexual and racial identities.
ECAH are also developing a series of small pop-up markets to coincide with the exhibit that will involve artisans from Queer communities whose intersectionality amplifies their marginalization, such as Queer IBPOC, Queer people with disabilities and Queer Seniors.
