Inspired by the gay/lesbian sports clubs in the old federal territory, five men responded to an advertisement in the city magazine KREUZER in 1994 and founded a gay sports group, which at the time still belonged to Rosalinde.

The founding was made official in January 1995 and the ROSALÖWEN eV sports club in Leipzig was born as an independent club. The force then quickly grew to ten men.

We are now an integral part of the club landscape. We are only a small club with just over 100 members. If you consider that there are an estimated 10,000 homosexuals in Leipzig - and the number is rising, as Leipzig is no longer considered an insider tip.

There is of course also time for celebrating and for joint activities such as barbecuing, drinking mulled wine or one or two meetings after training. We are also a member of the Leipzig City Sports Association and the EGLSF (European Lesbian & Gay Sport Federation) and are recognised by the Leipzig tax office as a non-profit organization and particularly worthy of support.
