I found the host John very friendly and hospitable, so much it felt like I was visiting a friends and not a Hotel. The room was very large and clean with plenty of room along with very pleasant food.

Joehart does not tell you how he messed around making a full reservation and then threw some hissy fit that left us open mouthed with exasperation and then decided to cancel after making the reservation - literally within minutes, and we had already processed the charge and had to backtrack and cancel and there are admin and banking charges - As a NOT FOR PROFIT VENUE if you mess up, we charge. Period. When people play these sort of games and then run around trying to destroy something rather than apologise for being a ' customer from hell' then I can only assume his cup is half empty whereas mine is half full. I do not live that kind of negative lifestyle of damning anything I resent and envy and Joehart is a typical gay man who likes to knock and destroy anything of beauty. Shame for him. Shameful attitude problem. He couldn't even keep it together long enough to make a reservation before turning into something we would not have wanted here and it was just as well he cancelled, as he would have ruined the atmosphere for everyone else. The £25 charge was for admin and banking charges incurred because he made a reservation and cancelled. His loss.

Spending Christmas once again at Hamilton Hall and I am thrilled. They always put on a really fine spread of food and entertainment for us all - 5 STARS

8/23/12 12:00 AM Quite possibly the worst 'hotel' I have ever been in. The rooms were poky, dark and very dirty. The prepared food was microwaved ready meals just chucked on a plate and the attitude of the owner/manager was, to put it bluntly, disgraceful. The man is egotistical in the extreme, self opinionated and downright unpleasant. There is no time to relax at Hamilton Hall as this odious oaf is always there, always watching you and always eager to talk about his favourite subject - himself and how wonderful he is. He is an embarrassment and his hotel a dirty and very unfunny joke.

Clean, full of personality, fun, delightful room so much better than I expected, friendly service like staying with friends and best of all MEN ONLY. Spent Christmas and New Year here and the laughter and togetherness encouraged by John and his staff member David was beyond anything I have ever experienced. Plenty of areas to relax other than in your room and you are encouraged to join in - eating at one large table together made friends straight away. Absolutely brilliant place and I shall return to one of John's workshop weekends advertised on his huge web site. John also offers loads of free periods to people 'in need' - guys with HIV and the elderly who cannot afford a holiday and he runs it as a not for profit place and puts more soul into the gay community than anyone else I have ever met. It's not all about money - it's about people, and we shared long talks together about all sorts of interesting things like life, death and the universe and he is an interesting fella with a lot to say and unafraid to speak up and I really admired him. His staff member David was a scream.. an Essex boy who made for a great laugh. First class food - service and FRIENDSHIP offered to everyone.

Spent Christmas and New Year at Hamilton Hall and was delighted. Stayed several times before and love this place. Spotless clean. Very friendly and informal. Rooms are much better than anywhere else for the money and food is all home cooked and very good. One large table shared for meals which made conversation easy - no hushed whispering. John is a brilliant host and gets everyone chatting and his staff member David was a scream, a real laugh and we played loads of games together and hooted the evenings away. GREAT FUN. John runs this place as a not for profit venue and gives away scores of free holidays every year to the elderly and HIV guys who need a holiday but cannot afford it. This kindness puts some soul into an uncaring money orientated community in need of more people like John. First saw him on TV's '3 IN A BED' and knew I had to visit and I have never been disappointed. It's also the only place offering such a variety of workshops etc. for men - anywhere I know - and this brilliant concept John has created is very innovative. John talks a lot and I found him so interesting, full of opinions he is not afraid to share and we talked for hours. The gay community needs more people like John and more venues like Hamilton Hall.
