National coming out day.On the 11th October, it is National Coming Out Day. |
Each of us (who have come out with their sexual orientation) have had to go through this initiation. It can be a challenging point in your life, but also something to look back on with pride if you are fortunate to live in a LGBTQ+ friendly country.
I thought I should share my initiation, which is a bit different to most people. For most people, coming out was telling others. Mine was to admit to myself that I was a gay man, before I could come out to others.
At the time, I could not come out. I was in the British Army for 12 years as a volunteer in 23 SAS squadron in the UK special forces; then I would have been dismissed with a dishonourable dis-charge. Fortunately, this homophobic rule was abolished in 2000.

Ellesmere Port Pride takes from Saturday 2 –3 October to Monday 2021. The organisers say it’s a pride fun day. It will have live music, a dog show, stalls and lots of activities through-out the day. Very close to Cheshire Oaks designer outlet for all your clothes, Chester zoo and Chester. There are also a few gay pubs in Chester.

Covid travel rules change
According to the UK Government, from 4 am Monday 4 October 2021, the rules for international travel to England (the other UK nations have different rules) will move from the red, amber, and green system to a single red list of countries and simplified travel measures for arrivals from the rest of the world.
The date also sees clearer rules for travellers with a fully vaccinated status.

2021 PinkUk now has 160 prides and events in the UK and a total of 541 prides and events in 42 countries.
2022 we now have 34 prides in the UK and have a total of 122 prides and events in 24 countries.
