PinkUk's June Newsletter
Issue No. 50 – June 2024
Linz Pride, Linz, Austria. 6 to 7 June 2024
Wishing you a great June and pride month
In the UK, there is a general election on 4 July, please vote for Pink-friendly (LGBTQ+) candidates.
We are now into what US citizens call Pride month; it starts with a bang with 92 prides on the first of the month alone. In the whole of June, we have 450 prides listed.
Not to put a downer on Pride Month, however, the US State Department on Friday the 17 May issued a worldwide travel advice that warns of potential violence against LGBTQ+ people and LGBTQ specific events that are taking place around the world. The advisory notes, June 12 will mark eight years since the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where a man shot dead 49 people and wounded 53 more.
Meanwhile, the UK government has not issued any statement on Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender: foreign travel advice and with the state of the current
government, this does not surprise me. There is more information on the BBC news site.
Dating
We will be removing the dating section at the end of August 2024 including deleting permanently all photos and personal details.
Why are we doing this?
There are plenty of websites out there, that do a far better job than we can. We can then focus on your main areas such as venues and pride and LGBTQ+ events.
Love & Pink Respect from the team, PinkUk xx
Featured pride: Highland Pride, Inverness, Scotland
Highland Pride takes place From 1 to 23 June 2024, with the main event taking place on Saturday the 22nd June. Inverness is the most northerly city & pride on the British mainland, as well as being the capital of the Highlands. It is also just a few miles from the world-famous Loch Ness. June would be a great time to plan a trip to the Highlands and attend one or more of the many events taking place. I believe the Highlands has the best scenery in the UK and you never know, you may even see the Nessie the Loch Ness monster, so don’t forget your camera.
