Welcome to this month’s newsletter from PinkUk. We’ve made it more streamlined for a quick read. It’s March so almost Spring; daffs are out, and it’s St Patrick’s Day on 17 March so wishing all some Irish fun over the month. March also means it’s the London LGBTIQ+  Festival 19–30th, packed with some of the best new queer films. Wherever you are, we wish you a fantastic Pink Spring!

Featured pride: Katie's Pride Picnic, Hitchin, UK

Katie’s Pride Picnic takes place on Saturday 22 March 2025. This free gathering is a ‘must’ for the diary if you are in Hitchin. Join Katie and friends as they come together to honour the diverse LGBTQ+  identities and strengthen bonds. This free bring-your-own food gathering is not just about sharing food, but also about sharing stories, laughter, and love. Whether you identify from the LGBTQ+ communities or are an ally, come along.

What is a Bear, and who are some of their important friends? The Urban Dictionary says, The most common definition of a "bear" is a man who is hairy, has facial hair, and a cuddly body. However, the word "Bear" means many things to different people, even within the bear movement. Many men who do not have one or all of these characteristics define themselves as bears, making the term a very loose one.
