Brits’ overseas holidays could be sooner than thought...
The UK government’s estimates of easing restrictions on holiday flight travel from the UK have changed again. It’s now looking more likely that they could be permitted as early as 17 May.
Previously, the UK media reported that ‘government sources’ had hinted that holiday travel abroad might not be permitted until as late as August given the deteriorating Covid situation in the rest of Europe. Since then Grant Shapps, UK Transport Secretary, said on 9 April, as reported by the BBC:
|
"This is the first time I'm able to come on and say I'm not advising against booking foreign holidays. Yes, you'll want to check what the situation is [around publication of this newsletter] with when that list the green, amber, red, is produced. [colour code for safety level of destinations] You'll want to know that you've got good holiday insurance and flexible flights and the rest of it.” At of time of writing, the government’s ‘traffic light’ list for countries had not been published. It was expected by the end of April. See PinkUk travelling |
