With current guidelines around large gatherings, we are getting creative again this year and plan to host an in-person, family-friendly, loud-and-proud drive-through experience!

Instead of having floats make their way up Rice Street from Vidinha Stadium to the Historic County Building, this year we will still close Rice Street - but have floats be stationary along Rice St (distanced apart) and we will have one lane of traffic open for a "drive-through" experience. (also incorporating music, entertainment & live art!)

After our virtual “Pride Inside” last year, we know a lot of our Kaua'i community, youth especially, have had challenges with staying home (& doing school from home), especially in homes or environments that are not supportive of their sexual orientation and/or gender expression/identity. We would like to make a visible public proclamation and celebration for Pride - and to once again let young people see themselves reflected in their own community and know that they belong!

To continue to have county support moving forward, we must emphasize our commitment to the safety of the community. Keeping floats/stations separated and limited to 25 people per group - and no contact between groups or attendees - we will be adhering to current county guidelines. Face masks must also be worn. And the more people vaccinated, the better. Vaccinations are currently available and appointments can be found at kauai.gov/vaccine. (There’s time to be fully vaccinated by the event date if appointments are made soon!)

This year specifically, we will not be having any community resource tables, vendors, food trucks, or a culmination on the lawn after the parade. That limits participation to: hosting a float/station, providing entertainment/live art, sponsoring, volunteering, or attending the event.

Although we wish we could do more this year, we are thrilled to bring the pride parade back to Rice Street where it belongs! And hopefully we can go back to the original plans next year - bigger and better than ever!
