Pink Saturday is the Dutch version of Gay Pride Parade, which was held for the first time in 1977 and which takes place each year in a different city. In addition to meeting, festivity and visibility, this theme and holiday also has an emancipatory, demonstrative and political character. After organizing the Cultural Capital in 2018, Leeuwarden and Fryslân are ready to host an unforgettable Pink Saturday.

On June 19, 2021 (a year later than planned) Leeuwarden will throw a big party confirming that you can be who you are in our province. We celebrate that you can be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, pansexual, asexual, intersex, queer and any other variation under the rainbow (yes, also straight), because in the Iepen Mienskip (open society) diversity embraced!
