Melt Open takes place from the 22nd October to 9th November 2025.

Melt Open is an annual open access festival of Queer art and culture premiering in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Born out of the success of Brisbane Powerhouse’s Melt Festival, Melt Open takes pride in showcasing diverse arts and cultural events. With an expanded line up of venues and artists, this destination festival aims to foster inclusivity, provoke thought and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. As Brisbane gears up to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032, we invite artists and producers to present work for Melt Open. We also seek expressions of interest from venues to participate. Melt Open, Brisbane’s major new festival celebrating queer art and culture across Brisbane/Meanjin.

Parade
8th November. In a celebration of our LGBTQIA+ communities and allies, we invite everyone to join the inaugural River Pride Parade. Boats of all shapes and sizes are welcome. Whether you register your boat, join an existing one, or simply choose to enjoy the spectacle from the riverbank, this family-friendly event is Brisbane’s own Mardi Gras or Mardi Raft, as we like to say. The flotilla of vessels will make the journey from William Jolly Bridge to Brisbane Powerhouse.
