The Legend of Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern
It was the last cast on a windy, rainy day that Dave caught the fish that would change his life. This was not his first fish and didn’t feel particularly special as he reeled it in. The fish was, in fact, a little on the lazy side as these things go. She hardly fought at all as she came towards the boat, and when she was alongside she rolled her eyes up, looked at Dave who was looking at her, and gently floated in the water. She was a fine fish. She had three inches of dark green and brown algae streaming from her gills. There were barnacles attached to her belly, and best of all, there was a collection of hooks and lures, some still shiny and some grown into the slimy skin around her mouth like jewellery.
