The premiere of Cerha's 'Baal' took place in the Vienna State Opera. Leading actress was KS Martha Mödl, the legendary Leonore from 'Fidelio' at the reopening of the Staatsoper in 1955. After the presentation of Cerha's 'Baal', Peter's Operncafe Hartauer opened at 22:30, with guest of honor KS Martha Mödl.

Peter's Opera Café Hartauer is no bar, no restaurant, no coffee house in the traditional sense. Peters opera cafe Hartauer is rather an institution. Peter, an enthusiastic opera lover, founded the Café as a meeting place and discussion for all opera lovers.
