First Taiwan LGBT Pride was held in 2003. Since 2004, Taiwan LGBT Pride was funded by Taiwan LGBT NGOs and gender groups. The mission is to organise LGBT Pride by Taiwan LGBT community every year. In 2008, the English official name has been changed to "Taiwan LGBT Pride Community". Until now, this annual event has become the biggest LGBT Pride in Asia.

Taiwan LGBT Pride festival is marked by tens of thousands of people parading through the city, plus numerous after-parties and special events.
