Shetland Pride takes place over the weekend the 2nd and 3rd of July 2022, and will not only be Shetland's first national & international Pride Festival - it will also be the MOST northerly Pride Event in the UK! Shetland is closer to the Arctic circle than it is to London and is on the same latitude as the southern tip of Greenland!

"At long last Shetland is having its very own Pride Festival. So, along with 27 other Pride events in Scotland, it was high time we in Shetland held our own permanent annual Pride marches and celebrations", said Kerrie Meyer, Founder of Shetland Pride. "We're planning a full programme of events including bands, music, performers, dancers, drag artists, competitions, fun events and hopefully even the occasional 'surprise' celebrity covering two days of our Pride Festival celebrations. No matter if you're LGBTQ or not - come and join in the fun and celebrations!"

The Festival which is being welcomed by the Shetland Islands Council and all local politicians is being seen as a chance for members of the LGBTQ+ community in the isles and from all over the UK and far beyond to come together.
