Waltham Forest Pride are committed to a Pride that is inclusive, diverse, political, antiracist and fun.

Waltham Forest Pride hope to make Pride an annual tradition in Waltham Forest – recently named London Borough of Culture 2019. Waltham Forest Pride will rally and be out, loud and visible. We want to make it clear to all trans, lesbian, bisexual, gay, queer, intersex, nonbinary people of all ethnic, faith and cultural backgrounds - “you are welcome”. This one’s for all of us!

There have been various incidences of physical and verbal abuse toward our community here in Waltham Forest - perhaps it has happened to you or someone you know. This is in the context of a soaring number of attacks on lesbian, gay and bisexual people in Britain – a near 80 per cent rise in the past four years. Two in five trans people have experienced a hate crime or incident based on their gender identity in the last 12 months. In response to some local attacks, the LGBT community of Waltham Forest held a protest against homophobia. And from that, LGBT residents were keen to organise a Pride event. So here we are! Always remember that Pride is a protest! We are celebrating and we are making ourselves heard. We demand acceptance, and we’re going to get it!
