Info
Antwerp Pride takes place from the 10th to 14th August 2022.
For our fifteenth anniversary, from 10 to 14 August, we are planning a full edition with parade and festivals in new locations. As a theme, we look to the future and look for QUEERTOPIA. What will the ideal LGBTQIA+ world look like in fifteen years?
“A fifteenth birthday is usually a moment to look back on the past,” says Antwerp Pride chairman Bart Abeel. “And although a lot has changed for the LGBTQIA+ community in our city since the first Antwerp Pride in 2007, this year we want to look resolutely to the future.”
The centrepiece in the many Pride events is the Pride Parade. Alongside the Parade we organize and/or welcome cultural, educational, activist, sportive… initiatives. We do this always from a positive, solution and common ground seeking approach. With great empathy towards all minorities and people at risk of exclusion. As a volunteer organization, we take great pride in building community throughout our events. Antwerp Pride originates from the LGBT+ community but actively seeks alliances with all people and organizations within the city that share our passion for a diverse, inclusive and engaged city.

The Happy Crappy Queer Parade
On Friday, we will go back to our roots and take to the streets with a lot of cheerful noise with The Happy Crappy Queer Parade, announced by Den Ambrassband. We will start in the Zomerfabriek with two workshops. Nyiragasigwa Hens lubricates your vocal cords and takes you to vocal highs to make croaking noise and Nessreen Tepeg kicks your inner activist in a workshop where we make queer pancakes for the Parade. We create with the resources we have, but we will be heard! At 7 pm we march through the Zurenborg together with the queers, the outcasts, the weirdos and the misfits and stop at the Draakplaats for a speaker's corner. The Greasy Horses then take you by pedal horse to Onder Stroom where we give the stage to queer musicians and dance into the night. We will take back our Pride and if we can't dance, it's not our revolution!
The Happy Crappy Queers want to protect the free, non-commercial nature of the Parade and rely on the queer community to do so. The space is reserved specifically for them and their allies, and participation is free. We are there for groups that are not given a voice elsewhere, are not represented, or for which participation is made difficult for any reason. De Parade is for and by queers, and we ask political parties and commercial bodies to respect and abstain from this. Of course, everyone is welcome as an individual, without advertising or campaign attributes!
