Love and LGBTQ+ history month!

Yep, it’s February, so it’s LOVE MONTH. Our Pinkest love to everyone on 14 February Valentine’s Day whether you are in a relationship, looking to be in one or are just happily independent! Another important event in February in the UK is LGBT+ History Month, which plays a big part in providing information and educating LGBTQ+ people about their heritage

In the UK it is commemorated in February to note the abolition of the  notorious ‘Section 28’ legislation, passed by British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s government in the 1980s, which threatened prosecution of local councils and their staff who promoted positive identities for people in the LGBTQ+ communities; public services such as libraries and schools were affected.  2022 is also the 50th anniversary of the first gay Pride in the UK, and LGBT+ History Month will note this historic event. Other countries such as the USA commemorate the History Month in October around International Coming Out Day. This year for the UK the theme is 'Politics In Art' which ties with art in the school curriculum in England.

Finally, most none-travel Covid restrictions in England have been removed. So enjoy Love Month and LGBT+ History Month!

All set for nightlife: UK nations relax Covid nightclub restrictions

All the UK nations have relaxed Covid rules for nightclubs as England moves back to its more liberal ‘Plan A’. England has gone furthest where nightclubs are now no longer required by law to ask for proof of vaccination from customers, although venues can still choose to request proof.  In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland nightclubs have reopened but with a requirement to show proof of vaccination. At the time of writing, there have been no changes to travel requirements.  Fully vaccinated travellers to England must still book a PCR or lateral flow test ahead of their trip to England to be taken within 48 hours of arrival. This may be reviewed soon.
