Pride Brighton & Hove returns this year louder and prouder than ever. A local treasure, acclaimed nationally and campaigning on global LGBT issues, Pride is a celebration of all that is fabulous about Brighton and Hove. Join 160,000 expected participants and spectators as 2014's LGBT community Pride Parade The World's A Disco celebrates the music, dance and colour from around the globe from the diversity of disco to the sauciness of salsa. Dancing under the campaigning theme Freedom To Live the parade will also highlight the plight of those global LGBT communities whose basic right to party and live freely is denied.

The Pride festival in Preston Park promises to exceed last years success with over 35,000 people dancing, partying and celebrating LGBT Pride. With extended opening times from 12 midday until 10pm, the return of the acclaimed main stage filled with live acts, special guests plus eight entertainment areas featuring dance tents, cabaret, performance, funfair, market and community area, the Pride festival will deliver a Brighton day out like no other. Street Party
The Street Party started out as a small grassroots celebration supported by both the LGBT and business community organised independently by a group of local businesses. Over the last few years, as the event has grown, concerns have been raised by local businesses, the police, fire and ambulance services, the Council and, importantly, local residents about its future that could ultimately jeopardise the future of the entire Pride weekend in the city.

For a one-year trial, at the insistence of the statutory authorities and after many meetings with local business owners, the Pride Village Party will become part of the official Brighton Pride weekend celebration. It will take place from 6pm on Saturday 2nd August with entertainment after the Preston Park festival from 8pm and on Sunday 3rd August between 2pm and 8pm.

For the first time ever, the seafront road, Marine Parade, will be closed to traffic for the event, creating a unique and vibrant gay village for Pride weekend. There will be various entertainment areas including zones dedicated to cabaret, bears and disco allowing the Pride Village Party to become a safe and enjoyable event for the LGBT community and its supporters, while, at the same time, becoming a successful fundraising event for local LGBT charities and organisations for the first time.

All revenue from the "Pledge Band" (£2 per day, plus £1 to the rainbow fund) will go directly towards extra security and infrastructure costs. Any surplus will go towards sustaining the future of the village party and the Rainbow Fund.
