'Publish Olympic Pledge Card' demand GreensThe Greens on the London Assembly have today issued a call for an 'Olympics Pledge Card' to ensure that community and environment promises on the Olympics are met.
The 'cut-out-and-keep' Pledge Card would outline the Mayor's key commitments on sustainability and benefits to the local community from the Olympics.
Londoners could use the Pledge Card to track progress and hold the Mayor and Government to account.
Darren Johnson' Green Party member of the London Assembly' commented:
"Plenty of promises have been made' but all too often environmental and social commitments are the first to be dropped when deadlines loom.
"Transparency is essential. Instead of burying the details deep within complex planning documents' what is needed is a simple Pledge Card to enable Londoners to know what to expect and when to expect it."
In a reply to a formal question from Darren Johnson' Mayor Ken Livingstone said he had 'no objection to the proposal'.
