I hope you are as happy as we are, that this month our usual newsletter is back. For those who don’t know, I had a heart attack and a heart bypass operation in March. I am now on the slow, long, road to recovery. I must thank everyone who contacted me and gave their best wishes, very moving. My ‘baby boy’ spaniel Stanley is so happy that I am now at home; I don’t know who misses who the most. He will be even happier in a couple of weeks when my chest has healed enough that I can walk him on a lead.

In the wider world, we’ve hit the magical number of 1,000 prides that are taking place in 2024.

We still have a lot to fight for to protect our human rights. For example, Uganda’s Constitutional Court has upheld the abusive and radical provisions of the 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act. Those behind the challenge, argued the law violates the fundamental rights of LGBTQ+ people. See our May 2023 article. Some good news: Thailand parliament ap-proves gay marriage bill that makes on one step closer to legalising gay marriage.

We understand that a sequel to the Australian cult film ‘The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ is in the works, director Stephan Elliott says. The news comes 30 years after the release of the original film, with the original cast on board (Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce, & Terence Stamp). A script has been completed.

Featured pride: Witney Pride, Witney, Oxfordshire, England

Whitney Pride takes place on Saturday the 25 May 2024, from 11:30. This will be the 3rd year that Whitney Pride has taken place. The parade will be starting at Marriotts Walk Shopping Centre, Witney, from 11:30. The Pride Festival will be held on The Leys Recreational Ground in Witney after the Parade arrives. There will be an afternoon of live entertainment, community stalls, Food and Drink and commercial traders. This is a glass free event.
